Introducing Our New Medication Management & Psychiatry Team at Resilience Counseling & Social Skills Center
At Resilience Counseling & Social Skills Center, LLC, our goal is to deliver high-quality, compassionate, and personalized psychiatric care that complements our psychotherapy and counseling services. We are pleased to share an updated overview of the dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP-BCs) who comprise our Medication Management team moving forward — helping ensure stability, continuity of care, and accessible support for individuals and families throughout Virginia.
Arissa Joseph, PMHNP-BC
Telehealth | Glen Allen | Richmond
Arissa Joseph is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to safe, compassionate, and holistic mental health care. She brings over six years of mental health experience, including extensive work as an RN on the inpatient psychiatry unit at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she supported individuals with acute psychiatric needs.
Arissa earned both her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University, building a strong foundation in evidence-based mental health treatment. She works collaboratively with clients to develop tailored treatment plans that reflect individual goals and values. She primarily treats adults ages 16-60 and focuses on anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. Outside of her clinical work, Arissa enjoys reading, yoga, baking, and family time.
Arissa has been an integral part of Resilience Counseling’s Medication Management team since transitioning into a full-time role in January — welcoming both transferring and new clients.
Jim Tomlinson, PMHNP-BC
Telehealth | Richmond
Jim Tomlinson is a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner committed to providing safe, compassionate, and individualized care. With over a decade of healthcare experience across hospitals, residential treatment programs, and community health centers, Jim values a collaborative approach that integrates pharmacologic, psychotherapeutic, and complementary modalities tailored to each client’s needs.
Jim earned his Master of Science in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University and completed graduate coursework in social work, psychology, and religion at Boston University. His clinical focus is working with adults 18 and older, supporting clients with mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, and intellectual disability. Jim’s approach acknowledges the broader developmental, cultural, spiritual, and personal factors that influence mental health and recovery. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, gardening, exploring natural history, and spending time with family.
We are excited to welcome Jim to the team — he is building his caseload now and expanding our capacity to support clients seeking psychiatric care.
