THERAPIST
Shay Wilson, MS, Resident in Counseling
Shay Wilson, Resident in Counseling, offers a warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed space where clients are invited to show up just as they are. She believes healing happens in the context of safe relationships, self-compassion, and a deeper connection to ourselves, our bodies, and the world around us. Clients often describe Shay as calming, genuine, and easy to talk to. She brings warmth, humor, and playfulness into the sessions.
Shay works with children, adolescents, and adults. Her approach is person-centered and integrative, drawing from EMDR, somatic and experiential therapies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, expressive arts, and nature-based approaches. She especially enjoys helping clients build resilience, better understand their nervous systems, and heal from trauma and attachment wounds.
Since childhood, Shay has felt most grounded and connected when spending time in nature. That lifelong relationship with the natural world continues to shape both her life and her work as a therapist. She believes that connecting with nature, whether through time outdoors, engaging the senses, creative practices, spending time with a pet, or simply slowing down and noticing the world around us, can be a meaningful part of the healing process.
Shay has experience working in outpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and residential treatment settings with both adolescents and adults. She earned her Master's degree in Counseling from Prescott College and is EMDR-trained and has advanced training in trauma-informed care, ecotherapy, mindfulness, and somatic and experiential approaches. She is also a certified Mindfulness Outdoor Guide, which is a training that continues to inform her belief in the profound healing potential of connection with the natural world. Shay is committed to creating an inclusive, LGBTQIA+-affirming space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to move toward the life they want to live.
