Sarah Dix, LPC

Sarah Dix is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Virginia. She received her BS from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2013. She then received her MS in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from the School of Allied Health at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2017. Sarah completed required clinical hours for Virginia licensure in 2021 and has been licensed since November 2021. Sarah has worked as a community-based counselor and clinical supervisor for the past two years.

Sarah began her mental health career as a teaching assistant at a local private day school that serves children with developmental and cognitive disorders. In this role, she learned and became skilled in ABA techniques and providing behavior therapy to those at the school. She transitioned to the community setting and worked as an Intensive In-Home counselor for the past 5 years. In this role, Sarah has worked with at-risk youth ages 5-19, struggling with depression, anxiety, anger management, impulse control, mood disorders, PTSD and other behavioral concerns. Sarah has experience doing individual, group, and family therapy. Sarah has done significant work with families in her role as intensive in-home counselor and primarily works from the Family Systems Theory. Sarah has also worked with clients in the following areas: suicidal ideation, anxiety management, mood regulation, low self-esteem, communication skills, social skills, impulse control, grief, life transitions, family dynamics, and trauma processing.

Sarah is originally from southwest Virginia and travels there to see family often. Sarah enjoys spending time in nature, reading, hanging out with friends, enjoying live music, and cuddling with her 80lb lap dog.
