Roger Mortise, LPC

Roger has a passion towards assisting people navigate their lives in a healthy manner and achieve their empowerment, while reaching their potentials with managing life challenges.

Roger is a retired United States Air Force veteran. He has been providing counseling services for over 10 years in variety of different therapeutic settings. Roger has experience working with various clients dealing with different challenges and presenting issues. He completed his internship/practicum educational requirements; while working at a behavioral hospital as a mental health therapist. Roger continued working at the hospital upon completion of his graduate degree; as an assessor and therapist in an inpatient facility. Roger gained extensive experience providing behavioral services to adults, adolescents, families, active duty military members and combat veteran patients; presented with various mental health disorders. He completed psychosocial assessments, creating treatment plans, provided individual and family group therapeutic services. Roger worked directly with military families and patients struggling with various challenges including: substance abuse/addiction disorders, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, ADHD and patients with history of sexual abuse, trauma and other mental health conditions.

Roger’s therapeutic techniques are rooted in motivational interviewing, CBT, CPT and mindfulness-based theory. Roger has supported individual and family counselling clients towards healing/recovery from trauma/PTSD, increased anxiety/depression, grief/loss and substance use/addiction; client dealing with life transitions, schizophrenia and bipolar disorders.

Roger completed his B.S. while on active duty through University of Maryland University College and M.S. in Counselor and Psychology from Troy University (Panama City, FL). He has worked in community base and school-counseling programs as well.
