THERAPIST
Mckenzie Pyles, MS, Resident In Counseling
McKenzie Pyles, Resident in Counseling, works with clients to support them in making progress toward goals that are important to them while navigating life’s challenges. She understands the strength and resilience it takes to seek therapeutic support and prioritizes a nurturing, judgment-free environment where clients feel safe and supported in their growth.
McKenzie believes in client autonomy and encourages individuals to take the driver’s seat in their therapeutic journey, while she serves as a guide. Utilizing an eclectic approach, she recognizes that therapy is not a “one size fits all” process and integrates techniques from various modalities to best meet each client’s needs. Her clinical work draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and others. She partners with clients to create lasting change that extends beyond the therapy room.
McKenzie earned both her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Longwood University. She has worked in community-based settings, including Intensive In-Home Services, Crisis Intervention and Stabilization, and Intensive Outpatient Substance Use Disorder programs. These experiences have equipped her with the skills and clinical insight needed to provide effective support in high-intensity situations. She works with individuals aged 8 and up.
