MaryAnn Byrne, LPC

MaryAnn Byrne is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia and Board Certified Counselor with over twenty years experience working with children and adolescents. She has a background in special education and school counseling. She received her undergraduate degree in special education and early childhood education from Radford University and her Masters in Counseling from Virginia Tech. She worked as a special education teacher with children with autism and intellectual disabilities for sixteen years in Pulaski and Arlington, Virginia. Ms. Byrne worked as a School Counselor for twelve years with Stafford County Public Schools. She is a certified Olweus Bully Prevention Consultant and appeared in the Connect with Kids documentary “Silent Witness”. Ms. Byrne completed her clinical residency working in community based programs and worked for several years as a therapist with Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Arlington. She has been a presenter at many professional conferences on a variety of topics, including: bullying prevention, integration of special needs students into extra-curricular activities, children and divorce, autism in the juvenile justice system and surviving girl world.

Her focus is behavioral, cognitive-behavioral and solution focused therapy. Ms. Byrne works with children and adolescents ages six through eighteen and specializes in ADHD, Autism, Anxiety and Depression. She works with parents on parenting the special needs child and siblings of children with special needs. She also serves as a Clinical Supervisor for Counselors in Residence under the Virginia Board of Counseling.
