THERAPIST
Kate McCauley, M.Ed, Resident In Counseling
Kate McCauley, Resident in Counseling, works with people navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, and questions of identity and purpose. She emphasizes curiosity and insight, helping clients explore the patterns and experiences that shape their understanding of themselves and the world. She also incorporates practical strategies to help clients address current challenges and work toward lasting change. Her approach is relational and meaning-centered, drawing primarily from psychodynamic, existential, ACT, and narrative therapies.
Kate holds a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience, a master’s degree from Harvard University, where she studied meaning in language, and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from William & Mary. She has provided individual and group therapy in residential and outpatient settings, working with individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illnesses. Her work is grounded in a trauma-informed approach that prioritizes safety, trust, and respect for each person’s autonomy.
Kate believes that a strong therapeutic relationship creates space for honest reflection, exploration, and change. Her style is warm but direct, and she values humor, authenticity, and genuine human connection. She meets clients where they're at with both openness and curiosity, making room for the contradictions and complexities that are part of being human. Through this work, clients can develop a deeper understanding of themselves and build lives that feel more intentional and meaningful.
