THERAPIST

Kaitlyn English,MA, EdS, Resident In Counseling

Kaitlyn English, Resident in Counseling, believes everyone deserves to have their story heard and heal the wounds they so often keep hidden. Kaitlyn takes a strengths-based, person-centered approach to counseling that honors each client’s unique experiences while celebrating the resilience they already possess.

Kaitlyn obtained both her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from James Madison University (Go Dukes!). During her graduate training, Kaitlyn provided counseling services to college students to address concerns related to anxiety, depression, relationships, unresolved trauma, and life transitions.

Kaitlyn enjoys integrating influences from cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, attachment theory, and narrative therapy. She thoughtfully tailors her approach to the goals and strengths of her clients, and incorporates additional techniques and modalities when appropriate.

Kaitlyn strives to create a therapeutic environment full of compassion and acceptance to provide a safe space to explore difficult emotions and challenge unhelpful patterns. She believes the therapeutic relationship acts as a space to practice new skills in a supportive environment before applying them to every day life. Whether clients are seeking healing, greater self-understanding, or support through life transitions, Kaitlyn is committed to walking alongside them every step of the way.
