THERAPIST

Joshua Taylor, LCSW

Joshua K. Taylor is proud to be a part of Resilience Counseling and Social Skills Center. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia, and has been certified in both Kentucky and West Virginia in the past. He graduated from Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, where he began focus on building experience with children and families.

Mr. Taylor then attended Asbury University in Wilmore, KY, graduating in 2011 with a Masters in social work. While there, he operated as the president of the Asbury MSW Student Fellowship, conducting leadership in addressing community efforts the student body was involved in. During his time with Asbury, he began to work directly with children and adolescents through after school programs in his internships with the local community mental health center. He also assisted in facilitating a summer school-based program geared toward children with both learning difficulties and emotional problems. This continued following graduation, as Mr. Taylor began to not only provide services to children and families, but also develop experience with adults and the chronically mentally ill.

In 2014, Mr. Taylor made the transition to begin fighting the opioid crisis in West Virginia. He managed a program to directly treat those with addiction issues in an outpatient medical setting, building it from its foundation to now treating about 300 adults. He gained experience in the use of medication in treating psychiatric and addiction issues and received extensive training in various therapy methods for treating clients with addiction.

After making the move to Virginia in 2016, Mr. Taylor returned to service toward children and families as an in-home counselor in the Richmond area. It was here that he greatly built his training and became much more experienced in working with families in need. Mr. Taylor has built his craft in therapy much more over the last two years, and now brings that experience to clients.

Mr. Taylor now serves as a clinician providing outpatient therapy to multiple populations, with continued interest in families, those battling with addiction, and a building focus on treating couples.
