THERAPIST
Jennifer Manning, MSW, Supervisee In Social Work
Jennifer Manning, Supervisee in Social Work, is dedicated to ensuring that each client feels that sessions are a safe space to heal, grow and work towards their goals.
Jennifer received her Bachelors in Sociology from the University of Alaska Anchorage, and her Master’s in Social Work from Walden University. Jennifer also has earned an embedded certificate with a focus on military populations, military culture, trauma, and specific stressors that active duty, veterans, and their dependents experience.
Jennifer has worked with a variety of populations in her experiences prior to joining the team at Resilience Counseling. She worked with the Department of Social Services in the Office of Children’s Services, as a medical social worker in a rural hospital, and in substance use services at a behavioral health clinic. Through those experiences, Jennifer developed a strong passion for cultural competence and an understanding that therapy is individualized for each person—there is no one size fits all. Jennifer’s goal is to view the clients she works with holistically, to ensure the most appropriate, functional, and effective treatment.
Since each person deserves a treatment plan that is best suited to them and their needs, there is an array of approaches that Jennifer might use. A trauma informed approach will be utilized, along with other approaches such as: systems perspective, motivational interviewing, strengths perspective, person-centered and an integration of cognitive therapy. As a person who attended therapy herself in the postpartum stage of her life, Jennifer has the empathy and compassion of understanding the perspective of the client and is passionate about helping.
Jennifer works with individuals aged 8 and up. She has a special interest in working with clients who experience trauma, postpartum disorders, or are military affiliated. She is LGBTQIA+ affirming and practices with cultural humility, creating a safe space for all.
