Emily Cadanova, MA, Resident In Counseling
Emily Cadavona, MA, Resident in Counseling, takes a compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed approach to counseling, helping clients feel heard, understood, and supported. Emily works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar disorder, and difficulties with emotional regulation and relationships. She is trained in narrative therapy, Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT), an approach designed to support individuals with bipolar disorder, and motivational interviewing. Emily specializes in working with adolescents and is passionate about helping them recognize their strengths and develop skills to support their well-being.
Before pursuing graduate studies in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Texas A&M University–San Antonio, Emily earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Abilene Christian University. She also worked as a middle school teacher and in a residential school setting supporting adolescents. These experiences strengthened her understanding of adolescent development and helped her develop practical skills in supporting emotional regulation and building trusting, meaningful rapport with adolescents. During graduate school, she completed an internship at a domestic violence shelter, where she gained experience supporting individuals impacted by trauma and crisis.
Having grown up in a military family and now being a military spouse herself, Emily understands the transitions and unique experiences that can come with military life. Outside of counseling, she enjoys staying involved in her church community, getting lost in a good book, and taking her dog on long walks.
