Meet Dr. Hadley McPherson
Dr. Hadley McPherson is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in the psychiatric care of children, adolescents, and young adults ages 4–30.
Dr. McPherson wants her patients and their families to feel heard and understood. She takes the time to obtain a detailed medical and psychiatric history, understand each patient's current stressors, and learn about the life experiences that have shaped them.
She uses evidence-based medicine to evaluate and treat a wide range of psychiatric concerns, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, trauma-related disorders and PTSD, psychosis, aggression, insomnia, and other mental health concerns.
Her approach extends beyond medication management. Dr. McPherson incorporates psychoeducation, behavioral interventions, and therapeutic support into her visits and counsels patients and families about additional resources and interventions when appropriate.
As a parent herself, Dr. McPherson recognizes how difficult it can be to coordinate medical appointments around school, work, extracurricular activities, and family responsibilities. She offers virtual appointments, including after-hours availability, in addition to regular appointment hours.

Florida families and young adults can meet with Dr. McPherson through secure video appointments without needing to travel to a Resilience office.
She provides telehealth psychiatric services to eligible patients throughout Florida, including those in Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Sarasota, Naples, Gainesville, Tallahassee, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and communities throughout the state.

Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
Children and teenagers experience mental health concerns differently than adults. Their development, family environment, school experiences, relationships, and individual circumstances are all important parts of understanding what they are experiencing.
Following her general psychiatry residency, Dr. McPherson pursued additional specialized training through a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
She works collaboratively with children, teenagers, and their families to understand symptoms, evaluate treatment options, and develop individualized treatment plans.

Young Adult Psychiatry
Dr. McPherson also works with young adults through age 30.
Young adulthood can bring significant changes involving college, careers, independence, relationships, identity, and increasing personal responsibilities. Existing mental health conditions can also evolve during the transition from adolescence into adulthood.
Dr. McPherson provides psychiatric evaluation and ongoing care for young adults experiencing concerns including ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, mood disorders, trauma-related concerns, sleep difficulties, and other psychiatric conditions.
Her ability to work with patients from childhood through young adulthood can be particularly valuable for patients who need continued psychiatric care as they transition into adulthood.
ADHD Evaluation & Treatment
Dr. McPherson works with both children and young adults experiencing ADHD and attention-related concerns.
Difficulty concentrating does not always mean someone has ADHD. A thoughtful psychiatric evaluation considers symptoms in the context of the patient's development, medical and psychiatric history, school or occupational functioning, sleep, anxiety, mood, previous treatment, and other relevant factors.
When ADHD treatment is appropriate, Dr. McPherson works with patients and families to discuss available treatment options and develop an individualized treatment plan.
Education & Training
Dr. McPherson earned her Bachelor of Science from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, with formative medical experiences abroad in Tanzania and Croatia.
She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the American University of the Caribbean, training in St. Maarten, England, California, and New York.
Dr. McPherson then returned to Florida and completed her psychiatry residency in Miami.
Driven by her passion for working with children, she subsequently completed specialized fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
Throughout more than a decade of medical education and psychiatric training in the United States and abroad, Dr. McPherson has worked with individuals experiencing a broad range of psychiatric conditions and from diverse backgrounds.
She brings that experience to her work as a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and LGBTQIA+ affirming physician.
A Little More About Dr. McPherson
Outside of her clinical work, Dr. McPherson enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending the theatre, visiting museums and local festivals, painting, and spending time with her many cats and one very large dog.
