THERAPIST

Alexi Holder, LCSW

Alexi is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with youth, ages 3 through 14. She graduated from the University of Mary Washington with a B.A. in 2006 and earned a Masters Degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011. She has worked in a variety of capacities and mental health settings with children and families including in the home, community and school environments..

Alexi has eight years post-masters experience working as a Mobile Therapist/Behavior Specialist as well as an outpatient therapist in an elementary school setting. She has provided therapy to children on the autism spectrum as well as with those struggling with a multitude of issues including depression, anxiety, difficulties in social interactions, family discord, behavioral issues, ADHD, dealing with change, grief/loss, and trauma. Most recently, she worked as a Therapeutic Day Treatment Counselor in an elementary school and has experience providing guidance and consultation to parents and school staff, advocating for clients in regards to receiving and implementation of supports such as IEP and 504 plans and helping families navigate the educational system.

Seeing your child struggle is heartbreaking: you are not alone. Whether your child is having difficulty fitting in at school or dealing with a past trauma, no issue is too big or small to seek help. Partnering with a professional can provide a positive, safe environment for your child to learn and grow as well as a place where you can feel supported as a parent. Each child is unique. My goal is to develop a relationship with your child in order to better understand what approaches “click” with them. I utilize a variety of techniques to assist youth in managing their emotions and learn new skills to help them navigate the world around them, including evidenced-based play and art therapy techniques.

Life can be challenging, let’s work together to give your child the opportunity to overcome adversity and thrive!
